A) I agree with Doro M, why spend precious time
packing and unpacking every day. I can thoroughly
recommend very luxurious self catering apartments in
Somerset West called Roosboom. You are 5 mins from
Somerset West Mall and Waterstone Mall so can easily
pick up any provisions you need, you are in a mid
point position for a lot of places. Cape Town - 30
mins, Stellenbosch 10 mins, Franshoek -30 mins,
Hermanus - 50 mins, Cape Point- 60 mins. Places to
visit depending on your interests

(Guests B) Spend your valuable time sightseeing not
changing accommodation. To have a look Roosboom
visit www.roosboom.co.za, Mabel and Ian are truly
delightful hosts. There are just 5 luxury apartments
and their own bungalow. We prefer the 2 upstairs
apartments because the view is simply amazing.

(Guests C) I agree with Lamlee that for your game
lodge pick one in Pilansberg. After game lodge and
Sun City I think you have two alternatives. You
could do a return flight to Cape Town. To save too
many changes of accommodation, we stay in Somerset
West and it is an easy drive into Cape Town on the
N2. RoosBoom (www.info@roosboom.co.za) is a
beautiful place to stay. They have just 4 fantastic
apartments (Each with a small kitchenette, so can do
your own breakfasts and an occasional dinner if you
wish.) You are then a short drive from Stellenbosch
and the wine route. We like to have lunch at
Boschendal Wine Estate between Stellenbosch and
Franschoek. Also Vergelegen Wine Estate 5 minutes
from Roosboom. Also 3 minutes from Somerset West
shopping mall.

(Guests D) Hi Lamlee
Re Somerset West, we stay there every year. We stay
in a fantastic apartment, Roosboom. Which is 5
minutes from Stellenbosch and the rest of the
winelands? Well on the way to Hermanus. About 10
minutes from the airport and a couple of minutes
from Somerset West Mall (which pleases my wife) and
can easily drive into Cape Town. At Roosboom we can
sit in a beautiful garden and have a swim in a large
pool, enjoy the company of our lovely hosts Ian and
Mabel (if we wish to, otherwise we are left alone)
After a day out we sit on our balcony and look our
over Gordon's Bay and on towards Cape Point and
enjoy a glass of wine. Everyone enjoys different
things on holiday but for us it is sheer bliss.
Being so handy for the N2 and so many "sights"
without having to negotiate Cape Town's traffic we
haven't found anywhere that suits us better.

(Guests E) This was our sixth visit to SA. We are in
our early 70's so our holidays are geared to suit
our age. I will try and give an honest, warts and
all, report.
Having been there before we didn't stop at Bourke's
Luck Potholes, very scenic but rather busy with a
lot of coach parties.
We then flew from KMIA back to Cape Town and on to
our next accommodation, an apartment at Roosboom in
Somerset West. Our hosts Ian and Mabel, who again
were wonderfully kind when we staggered our way down
of the car crash (my wife on crutches and
wheelchair); they have five self catering
apartments, luxurious to say the least, in the
grounds of their bungalow. From our upper apartment
we could sit on the balcony and gaze out over Strand
and over towards Simons town and Cape Point, I could
sit on that balcony, sipping chilled wine and watch
the sunset forever. We love to buy fresh fruit, food
from the Mall, 5 minutes away. Breakfasts were
always a delight. We varied between eating out in
the evening or cooking "simple" meals, we often
bought ostrich steak and vegs for a stir fry, the
best fillet steak I've ever tasted at less than £3 a
pound and cooked in five minutes (you didn't need a
knife it was so tender) and large bags of
langoustines at, to us, ridiculously low prices. We
also ate at Ocean Basket on a few occasions. For a
treat I even took my wife to Gordon's Bay fish and
chip shop!!

(Guests F)
Every year we stay in Somerset West, about 50 Km
outside Cape Town. It is about 15 mins drive from
Stellenbosch and the winelands. 5 mins drive from
Somerset West Mall for all the shopping you need and
also to get on the N2 highway to head off to many
places. We stay with Ian and Mabel at Roosboom (www.roosboom.co.za)
They have their own bungalow within the huge garden
then just five luxury apartments, three ground floor
and two above. They really are luxury apartments
with large glass 'French-windows' across the whole
of the front with a fantastic view over False Bay to
Cape Point. The kitchenette is extremely well fitted
with 3 ring stoves, microwave oven and the usual
toasters, coffee maker, electric kettle, fridge etc
there is a huge swimming pool.
The two maids, Shirley and Tessa, are lovely young
ladies, nothing is too much trouble sfor them if you
need anything but equally they are not hanging
around waiting to clean the apartment, they wait
until they see you depart . Ian and Mabel are simply
fantastic, they are like old friends to us now but
will do anything for you, if asked, but again leave
you completely alone if that is what you wish.

(Guests G) Mabel
& Ian, owners of Roosboom, are great hosts ... room
& facilities were spotless, & we were welcomed on
arrival as friends, not paying guests. This was,
without doubt, the best value for money short-term
accommodation establishment we have ever stayed in,
here in SA, as well as in other countries. The
ability to self-cater is great, although we had the
optional Roosboom-prepared breakfast (and a very
good one at that) for the two days we stayed were at
Roosboom.
